Looking down from atop a car ferry I saw these two gentleman leaning over the side of the boat waiting to leave the dock.  The water in the harbor at St Johns was literally that turquoise color.

To create this piece I employed a printing method of sorts.  For the water effect, I applied a generous amount of pigment and water and then while it is still very wet, overlaid that with tissues, allowed it to dry and removed the tissues when completely dry.  For the floor of the ferry, I  strategically placed varying hues  and while wet covered with patterned paper towels.  When completely dry, I removed the paper towels and completed the painting by directly painting the figures and rest of the boat.  I am always experimenting and trying new methods and I felt this one was successful endeavor!

This piece was accepted into the IWS National juried show in Dixon IL.
