Post Card Series

I had so many beautiful little vignettes from St John that I wanted to paint, so a did a series of small post card size watercolors.  As we waited  in Red Hook Marina for  the ferry to push away from the shore, I saw this yellow building on the distant pier eclipsed by the wide expanse of turquoise.  I painted the water in sweeping broad strokes to show the untamed nature of the water- it was a bit windy that day, with rain clouds in the distance.
