The day after 9/11, on September 12, 2001, I went for a walk and was struck by how empty and quiet the sky was that day. The only things I saw in the sky on that September morning were the sun and moon, both so strikingly clear.  Normally our sky is filled with air traffic from both O’ Hare airport and low flying local news, traffic, and emergency helicopters . I was so struck by this abrupt quiet that I went home and painted this picture of what I experienced that morning.
