Growing up my mother taught me flower arranging.  She was strongly influenced by what she learned while living in Japan and this influenced what she taught me.  After reading some book on Chinese painting I tried my hand at painting flowers in this linear perspective.  Some of these images  feel way too heavy handed, lacking the lightness, movement, and simplicity  of true a Chinese style, but it was a fun exercise and helped inform some of my brush work going forward.
