The Bonnet House was owned by a Chicago artist and his wife and is whimsical and interesting in both color and design and in the artifacts that are in the house and on the property. I loved the contrast of the blues and yellows, and decided to paint the entrance with it’s character and textures.
I tried a couple techniques to create this image: blotting out color to create the clouds, using masking to “hold the whites”, splattering in some areas, and painting the rest of the piece in glazes .
